Castle Retake (王城奪還) is the sixteenth main Story Mission. In this mission, the Prince must retake the castle from the fearsome Lich. The Lich has a powerful and extremely long-range magical attack, and he can easily tear apart an unprepared formation. The key to tackling the Lich is to understand enemy targeting priority -- enemies will prefer to target units that were placed most recently.

After completing this mission, players have the option of starting the desert story sequence with Desert Battle. The desert missions were added to the game later, and they generally feature better rewards than the kingdom missions. Otherwise, the kingdom sequence continues with Dragon Hunting or the optional Remnant Vanquish 3 (which will then lead to Flame Dragon).

Completing this mission will increase the player's unit capacity by 4.

Anna: The time has come. Their leader must be inside the castle.

Anna: Let's reclaim it and banish the monsters from the kingdom.

(Clear)

Anna: We... we did it! We won! We've expelled the monsters!

Anna: Finally, this day has come... Pardon my tears but...

Anna: Ahem, but, the world is not yet free from monsters, my Prince.

Anna: Next, you must fight to save the world as the Goddess' hero.

Strategy

This map can be tough to keep up with at the start due to the early Goblin rush accompanied by a Heavy Infantry, from this point on you will want to have Class Evolved units, though this guide will only have Katie and Soma.

Place Katie on the left intersection (spot E), then place Phyllis to her right (spot H). Place Soma on the strip of land below Phyllis' right (spot T). Use Katie's skill to bring Mortimer above Phyllis (spot G) and Cloris on the upper right slot near the top (spot R). Use Phyllis' skill then wait till the last Red Goblin she blocks is killed then withdraw her and place Valerie on the upper left slot near the top (spot Q). Place Calliope near the left HQ point (spot N) in case Valerie & Cloris don't kill Red Gargoyles heading that way. Place the Prince below Mortimer (spot H) to boost other units and catch any enemies that pass Mortimer. Use Katie's skill again and bring Iris below Valerie (spot P), then place Alissa below Cloris (spot S). Withdraw Katie and place Leeanne to Mortimer's left (spot F), then place Elaine where Katie used to be (spot E). Withdraw Calliope at 55 kills and place Dorca near Iris (spot O) to heal Elaine for later. Due to the placement order Leeanne should be initially targeted by the Lich that comes at the end then switch to Elaine when she is within it's range before being blocked. Watch Mortimer's health closely and withdraw him when his health is below 500 and Iris & Alissa can't keep him above before the Liches next attack.
