"Master, are you sure you want to drink with me?" Hien had entered completely undetected. Probably force of habit. You beckon him to sit. "This wine is delicious. It agrees with me. Drinking with you like this is my greatest reward." Hien speaks earnestly while slowly sipping his wine. It seems to you that the loyalty felt by Hien and those of his hometown are beyond compare. "I am here to serve you, master, so it is only natural." Hien's eyes opened wide in surprise when you tell him your thoughts. "There are many ninjas in my village, so I've trained to become one since I was a child." You express your interest in his training, and he talks about it cheerfully. You had never seen him remove that cloth mask with others present. "One's heart can be discerned from his expression. Ninjas are trained to prevent our expressions from being perceived. And we keep our outward appearance from being revealed by covering it like this." Showing his face to you is presumably a sign of loyalty. You dare say that it's out of humility that Hien doesn't touch on that fact. Hien would certainly never do anything conspicuous. You ask him if he's concerned with such things as honor. "For ninjas, serving under a master is itself an honor. If we have no master, we cannot shine. You are leading the world to peace. Serving under such a master is to me the highest honor." In retrospect, your question was probably a silly one. His concept of honor is different from that of others. But to put it in other words, you have a responsibility to him, too. To lead him and his people, to use them to fulfill the desires of the people. And to bring them a peaceful future. You thank Hien for his continued dedication.
