Trivia[]

A Yagyou-san is a Youkai, usually depicted as a bearded one-eyed oni riding a headless horse. He makes appearances on New Year's Eve, Setsubun, and during the Hyakki Yagyou. Those who encounter Yagyou-san get kicked by his horse, and thus people are warned not to go out at night on the days he appears. If one is unlucky enough to have an encounter, they can avoid the punishment by placing their sandals on their head and laying on the ground.
