All-Age Conversation Scenes Edit
"I'm only here because I'm following the will of the other elves."
From the moment he walks in, Lauren has a look of disgust on his face. As you expected, he isn't in favor of joining your effort.
"So? What is it you want?"
You tell him you want to hear any information the elves have about the monsters. Lauren looks dubious, but takes a seat just the same.
"Most of what I know about the monsters is from the legends I've heard."
You ponder the information that Lauren provides, and toss in your own opinions. He agrees with many of them, and the conversation is more animated than you expected.
"To be honest, I don't feel right talking this much to a human, but at least I got some useful information out of it too."
His honesty was actually refreshing. His incredible pride was almost amusing, in its own way. Just when you decide to avoid further discussion, he starts grumbling.
"You ignored us all this time, why..."
He seems uncomfortable when you begin to reply, so you stop. It seems he doesn't want to pursue this any further, so you change subjects back to the enemy.
"Every battle, more and more of them come out of the woodwork... Those damn monsters..."
Lauren wears a bitter expression as he curses the monsters. Even knowing that this is the nature of battle, there are some things one never gets used to.
"For years we had cut off relations with the outside world. Even when humans were fighting the monsters, we turned a blind eye."
Lauren gazes at his bow. He continues slowly.
"And yet in spite of that, you humans helped us. We... We..."
Finally, you feel that you understand why he has put such distance between the humans and the elves. All along, his insides where churning with guilt.
Among the elves were those who declared that they were noble, but Lauren's problem lay elsewhere — guilt over not coming to humanity's aid, and his pride as an elf.
You pass Lauren a glass. He peers at you, his face betraying a moment of suspicion.
Whatever happened in the past, the elves are helping you now. The problem is what to do going forward.
You ask him if he would agree with that. He is surprised, but quickly regains his composure.
"Just watch me slay those monsters with my trusty bow," he proclaims as he takes his glass in hand.
