  • Hi Valkyrie! My name is Shrev, and I’m the Fandom Wiki Manager for Aigis Wiki. I am here to help the community and be a liaison to full-time Fandom staff. If you ever have a question or issue relating to the wiki, editing, styling, infoboxes, templates, etc., please feel free to contact me on my wall, or on Discord at Shrev64#0089.

    • Duly noted! I'm more of a fly-on-the-wall since life got a firmer hold of me, so you're more likely to hear from one of the admins or Kuremisago (the significantly more active bureaucrat).

  • You're not on discord that i know of, so i'll message you here as i have mentioned it on discord and i assume kure would have seen it, but i have requested DPL and the staff have enabled it a few days ago. I am currently rolling over the class lists to use it, as you can see on archers the content is literally just this

    <DPL>
        category           = Archers
        notcategory        = Rarity:Iron
        notcategory        = Rarity:Bronze
        notcategory        = Doppelganger
        mode               = ordered
        allowcachedresults = true
        format             = {{Unit_category|,%PAGE%,|,}}
    </DPL>

    What it does is query the API for categories and pass over those in the intersection of all those sets to a template called Unit_category i made just for it. Each unit name is sent as an argument, it's quite nifty. Which in the template side, runs a top iconrow module, transcludes {{PAGENAME}}/Description then runs another module that handles the unitlist, basically it iterates through the data DPL sends it and checks for chibis, setting a flag if one was found while making it transclude the stats pages for non-chibi, then does the same for chibi if the flag was set to true. An example of this would be on the angels page, since angel is a race and a class, chibi angels are included in a seperate list.

    But anyway, usage aside.. this is enabled on request for a reason, it's expensive and non-nonchalantly using it all over the place can result in performance issues. You seem pretty savvy as i know for a fact you along with Kkentauro and i do fiddle around with the javascript on the wiki so it's more about keeping an eye out for people who don't know what they are doing.

    Generally, we shouldn't hide it in templates but use it to call templates is fine, and make sure caching is on. And the fandom staff recommend 1-2 uses per page, which i assume includes transclusion.

    Hello ShinyAfro,

    Thanks for contacting FANDOM. I've gone ahead and enabled on DPL on your wiki so you can try this out - but please do be careful with how much you use it, given that it can be quite resource-intensive.

    In case you've not already read it, please do check out our help page for it: https://community.wikia.com/wiki/Help:DPL

    • I was looking at that edit on the bishop page yesterday and was curious about it ^_^

      Good to see that performance warning, that's the kind of thing I wouldn't have clued into myself most likely, thanks! :D

      I'll have to make a point of reading that help page myself so I can clue in a little bit more as well.

    • It seems pretty snappy, even with caching on too. just before i added a unit to the category & it was instant. same for removal. It might be because when you add something to the category page, it has to update the cache to display it on the category member plain-text bit, which train-triggers DPL.

  • Hi Valk. Question for you: Is there a way to create a table that pulls data from an external website, like Google Sheets?

    The reason I ask is that I have been doing a study of which of 4 story missions have the best XP/Charisma rates, as well as other things. I am recording the results of runs in a Google Form, which then auto-updates a spreadsheet. I was thinking it would be handy to have on the wiki here, especially if I could get the table here to auto populate with the info there. Because I give myself maybe 4 updates before I forget and just stop doing it.

    I suppose I could always just put in a hyper link to a read only page with the data, but it would be a bit slicker if one didn't have to leave our lovely Aigis home here.

    Thanks!

  • Hey Valk. Some months ago it looks like Wikia changed the implementation of the <tabber> tag to that switching between tabs left changes on the URL and page history, which I didn't like. I want to change implementation of tabs to use JavaScript instead (inspired by the One Piece wiki), which should amount to just copy-paste-and-saving this page and putting the available new functions into the templates. Is that all right?

    (For an example of how that javascript works, see infobox on Monkey D. Luffy page. Note how switching between "Manga" and "Anime" doesn't do anything to the URL/create page history entries, but switching between "After Timeskip" and "Before Timeskip" does.)

    • It's still out by a few hours because fandom hasn't approved the JavaScript code yet. The fix you put up yesterday works, it just needs to be reviewed by Fandom is all.

  • As I have specified on Nutaku Account Up for Bids I am planning on giving/selling my Nutaku account away. I do not know how active you on are on other Nutaku games, but you are one of the people I would prefer to inherit my account (payment optional).

    Your contributions to this wiki was one of the reason I so greatly enjoyed Millenium War Aigis (and that was truly the game I enjoyed the most and for the longest on Nutaku). I trust that you will not abuse any information that may remain stuck to the account after the transfer. If you are willing to assume ownership of my Nutaku account please send me an e-mail at nutakuaigiswasfun@gmail.com.

    • Hey Kiasma! I appreciate the thought, but I'm afraid I'll have to pass haha. While I did entertain the thought of picking up kamihime on nutaku, I decided against it in light of previous game closures (I, too, have effectively abandoned all nutaku games).

      Sorry I haven't been much of a contributor in quite some time over there, but I'm glad that the presence I had wasn't detrimental :)

      I hope you find something fun to fill your newly acquired leisure time! (Assuming you don't migrate to DMM and be forever addicted like the rest of us :p )

  • By any chance you got a border that big as your default avatar Border_Black.png

    just realise it was small :V

    Trying to fit in w/ da cool kids but do an OC

      Loading editor
    • I made that border in paint from a server quality icon; there aren't any higher resolutions I'm afraid, because the game only serves those icons with the borders at roughly 100x100px, and no larger. If you want to match icon size for your profile like us cool kids I believe if you just stretch the border to 150% it should be close (150px by 150px).

  • Would you know how to add more blocks to the SAW template for the base-skill part? I'd like to be able to separate multi-part skills i.e. Kikyou's.

      Loading editor
    • Yup, I can do that after work today. Would've done a few hours ago but my screen kicked the bucket T_T . The lines will be called "skill2" "effect2" and "reuse2", along with "skill3", "effect3", etc.
